Do you (or your kiddos) have too many t-shirts to count?! Then turn them into a quilt! At this camp, you will learn how to properly reinforce, trim, and sew your t-shirts together into a cozy quilt. Some prep work is required before class.
Prep Instructions for Camp
Please make sure to follow instructions #1-4 PRIOR TO CAMP!
- Pre-wash all t-shirts; iron any wrinkled shirts.
- Trim the neck and sleeves off each shirt; separate the front and back (if there is a logo on the back keep; if not, discard).
- Decide how many quilt blocks (t-shirts) you want (12, 16, 20, 25, 30 or 36). I recommend max 16 if you are new to quilting!
- Lay out your t-shirts in the order you prefer. TIP: Take a picture (on your phone) so you remember how to arrange the t-shirts when you get to camp! NOTE: 12 t-shirts makes a rectangle quilt with 3 rows of 4; 15 t-shirts makes a square quilt with 4 rows of 4; etc.).
- STOP: that is enough prep for now!
- COME TO CAMP!
- Iron on interfacing.
- Square up your t-shirts with a square ruler making sure to center the logos as you wish. Arrange t-shirt quilt blocks into your preferred lay out (or as saved in your pic!).
- Sew blocks together!
- TIME PERMITTING: We will baste your quilt-top to batting and backing and I will demo how to machine quilt your quilt and complete the binding.
